How much fuel would a fully-loaded 747 use on a flight from New York to Chicago

How much fuel would a fully-loaded 747 use on a flight from New York to Chicago?
I realize that smaller aircraft typically make this sort of a trip. I'm just curious, in general, about the fuel economy of passenger aircraft. I'm just looking for a ballpark average. I know it'd be different for different times of year (because of the air temperature) and weather conditions.

The fuel burn is also affected by the altitude at which it flies, condition of the engines, etc.A very general figure would be around 2,728,500 gallons. This using the fuel burn rate of a 747-100 which is old. 3638gal/hr X 750 miles = 2,728,500

I would say no more than 50% of its capacity. Maybe only uses 20 to 30%. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Max fuel on a 747-400 is 57,285 U.S. gal or 387,647 pounds of fuel. I would guess around 33,000-38,000 pounds (4,876-5,615 gallons) of fuel not including reserves. JFK to ORD is 658 n.m. the flight should take just under 90 minutes.

Takeoff and climb burns the most fuel so for long range airplanes short flights are not the right metric. You need to look more at long range flights.
