How bad is the flight from New York to Hawaii?
I am going to Hawaii from New York in a week and while I am so excited to go I am dreading the plane ride. I know it is super long, but is it also a terrible ride? thanks for your opinions!

flying over certain states you can experience some turbulence, not anything severe though, but the excitement of the final destination makes it worthwhile!! if you suffer from motion sickness take some dramamine, it helps A LOT!!

Amanda, I will bet that you have a really smooth ride. The reason for this is that the flight crew can plan the route to avoid any known turbulence, and provide a smooth ride. It is a long way, so take a book or two with you to help pass the time. If you have a window seat you will be able to see lots of the USA. Enjoy your flight and Hawaii. Regards, Dan

I've been on this flight many of times. It seems like it will be a bad experience but really it is so long that all of those dreading feelings pass over you. You get used to being on the plane, it is not just something to get you from one destination to another, but a cabin that you are to live in for a while. It is worth it though as Hawaii is a wonderful, amazing state filled with beauty. You will be glad you endured the flight, usually on a Boeing-767 which is a large jet aircraft designed for passenger comfort.

The plane ride can be long, but just think about the beautiful weather you will be having. There are no non-stop flights from JFK to Hawaii. I flew United from New York to Honolulu once with a layover in Los Angeles. Most flights will connect in Los Angeles. Bring a book, magazine or iPod. Best thing to do is to sleep so when you arrive, you will be refreshed and ready to hit the beach. Hawaii is 5 ot 6 hours behind you so the sleep will be beneficial because when it is 6:00 pm Hawaii time, your body will think it is 11:00 pm or midnight.
