During December, do the snowstorms in New York City cause major flight delays?
I am going to go to Nassau, Bahamas and I'm thinking of stopping in New York (JFK airport area to be exact) before I take another flight to Nassau. However, I keep hearing there are snow storms in New York during December, which is when I'm going. Could these snow storms delay either the flight I'll take to New York or the flight that will take me to Nassau?

i've never been there, much less in the winter, but yeah, i've heard of some major delays...

Yes, you could be delayed. Snowstorms affect the entire north and east sections of the country too. But once there is a delay at a major airport, that can affect flights all over the country too. So even if you don't go through JFK, that doesn't mean you can avoid weather delays.

JFK averages only 3.8 inches of snowfall for the MONTH of December. Less than half that in Chicago.
