Are there frequent flight cancellations in February in New York

Are there frequent flight cancellations in February in New York?
I'm planning a trip to see the last shuttle launch in Orlando, but first, i'd like to go to NYC. Im planning around mid Feb 2011. I'm just wondering, since i have a tight schedule with the launching, If the airports (all three) in New York cancel a lot of flights due to snow and other winter weather conditions. Otherwise Any answer is appreciated. Thanks!

If you have a tight schedule with the shuttle launch then you have a problem. Under normal conditions you have to leave a couple of days wiggle room for shuttle launches and in cold weather your wiggle room will have to increase > see the Challenger disaster As far as NYC airports go given the frequency of flights from New York airports into Orlando unless a full scale blizzard shuts everything down you really shouldn't have a problem getting out

If we have a blizzard, then yes, they'll cancel flights. If not, you'll be fine. But your bigger problem is that shuttle launches get postponed all the time, and that sometimes happens several times. You can't be sure, even on the scheduled day, that the shuttle is going to launch.

There are some cancellations but you also have to worry about the route the flight takes. Any storm crosing the flight plath and the plane will not leave the ground and with new air rules that zap them, they'll cancell the flight.

Well, you never know when a huge storm is going to hit, but February is prime time for that in the Northeast. So, yes, there can easily be flight cancellations, due to weather in the NYC area or in other parts of the country. Also, the shuttle launches do not always go according to schedule and they can be delayed or scrubbed altogether.
